Earlobe Reduction

The goal of earlobe reduction surgery is to make the earlobes smaller or more youthful-looking by recontouring them. Earlobes can naturally grow longer and larger as we become older. Having huge or oddly shaped ears attracts unwelcome attention that over time can damage a person's self-esteem and confidence.

About Earlobe Reduction

Although few people are aware of it, some people can feel extremely embarrassed by huge, hanging earlobes. An awareness of large or prominent earlobes can result from a harsh remark or casual observation. The earlobe varies greatly in size and shape; some are short and attach directly to the jawline, while others hang down to varying degrees. All of these appearances are typical.

Earlobe reduction is a reasonably easy operation that can be done under local anaesthesia as an outpatient surgery for people who are self-conscious about the look of their earlobes.

Procedure:

An earlobe reduction can be done in a variety of methods. Although the ear lobe will roll over and be distorted, the scar might be concealed behind the ear. The skin from the front and rear of the lobe must be excised for a substantial reduction, which leaves a noticeable scar; nevertheless, this scarring typically settles extremely well and is very well concealed at the top of the lobe.

Aftercare:

Soon after having your earlobes reduced, you will be able to leave shortly. A sports headband or a bandage can frequently be used in place of a head bandage to gently support the ears, especially at night.

After surgery, resting for a few hours is indicated. Post-operative swelling can also be decreased by sitting or reclining with the head raised. Most of the time, the operation is not particularly painful. After the treatment, you can typically go back to work, but it’s vital to take special care to avoid wound damage, especially when dressing.
